Hi Members and Friends,

I hope you all had a safe and happy Easter weekend. For myself it's been a weekend of relaxing with family, BBQs with friends and too much chocolate!

Last Thursday night we held our Members’ night with a cash draw jackpot of $1,000! All but one of us will be happy to hear that Nathan Mula was not at the club to collect the cash, so up it goes to $1100 this Friday. That has to be worth coming in to the club for an hour or two this Friday.

Also, on Friday night there will be a $10 meal deal on offer with lasagne or vegetable frittata plus salad and garlic bread. Then at 7pm Galaxy Karaoke will be back! Last time they were with us, we had a great night with many singers - solos and duos - entertaining us. Who knew we had so much talent amongst our members and friends? So even if you don't sing come along and enjoy the night.

This Saturday the SANFL Port Adelaide Football Club has a home game at Alberton which is an ANZAC Day memorial game. This is a significant event to raise awareness of Anzac Day and the RSL. Vice President Shane Edmonds will be reciting the Ode of Remembrance before the game. Our sub-branch has been invited to participate to raise funds by selling People’s Choice raffle tickets and rattling donation tins. Sub-branch members who wish to volunteer on the day will have free entry on presentation of your RSL card or badge. If you would like to volunteer, please do so by registering your interest with either David Kerr or myself and present at the main entrance at 1.30pm.

On Sunday I will be attending the SAPOL Anzac service being held at the Police Academy which I’m very much looking forward to.

Monday night the Youth Vigil will be held at the Semaphore Angel from 6.30pm-9.30pm, good luck and thanks to all who are participating.

Also on Monday night, come down to Semaphore Rd to view the ANZAC Illuminart Project on the front of our building between 6pm-9pm. The projection will tell the story of one of our local war heroes, Thomas Currie (Diver) Derrick and will include footage sourced from the War Memorial Trust, as well as interviews from a couple of our members. Don’t miss this!

And of course, Tuesday is ANZAC Day with our dawn service commencing at 5.50am. This is our biggest day of the year and we still need a few more volunteers. Please help if you can, by putting your name on the list located at the noticeboard near the office. We have a full program after the service, with a Gunfire Breakfast available from 7am and 2Up during the morning. Then we have live music from Open Mic night regulars, Mark and Annie at midday and Chica Chica Electrica playing from 2pm-5pm with Frankie Starling singing “Dancing with the Diggers”, her song written especially for the Semaphore Pt Adelaide RSL. For those that wish to attend the service in the city a bus will be leaving from outside the club at 8.30am.

Looking ahead, we have BYO Vinyl Night on Saturday 29th April – dust off your LPs and 45s for DJ Trevor to spin or just come along to enjoy the music collection of others. BYO supper too!

Bogan Bingo is on Saturday 27th May – tickets are selling fast. Don’t miss out, get your friends together and channel your Inner Bogan for a hilarious night. This is a fundraiser for our club with a silent auction (lots of great items on offer), raffles and lucky envelopes plus prizes for best bogan attire and best air guitar.
Online tickets $25 pp plus $2.12 booking fee available here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/bogan-bingo-semaphore-port-…

Lastly, we are fundraising with the Entertainment Membership this year. The new 2017/18 book, or if you prefer the digital version for use on your smartphone, are both available now for immediate use until 1 June 2018. Hundreds of offers for everything you love to do for only $70 with $14 of that going to our sub-branch fundraising. Order online at
